Gastronomy

Salamanca has a particular culinary tradition, largely meat-based.
Do not miss “hinojosa de duero” (a tasty cheese), “lomo iberico” (cured loin pork), “salchichón” (spiced sausage), “chorizo” (higly-seasoned spiced sausage) and the tasty “jamòn” (cured ham).

There are dishes that are considered typical of Salamanca:

Honey and almonds are the basic ingredients of most of sweet things and desserts.


Restaurants

In Salamanca you can find lots of bars and restaurants where you can taste the local cuisine as well as several international restaurants. The best places are located in the gorgeous Plaza Mayor but if you are looking for some cheapest restaurant head for Plaza del Mercado, Calle Meléndez and Rua Mayor. If you want to eat in a restaurant, look out for the ones with a special tourist menu on the outside. You can save a lot of money and you can have a two or three course meal. If you prefer you can also try French, Italian Indian, Pakistan, Mexican or Chinese restaurants.
