Salamanca is a city in Western Spain and it is the capital of the community of Castille y Leon. The city lies by the River Tormes and it was declared World Heritage Site in 1985 as well as European Capital of Culture in 2002.
It hosts one of the most ancient and prestigious University in Europe and lots of people continue to come from all parts of Spain and Europe to study at its University.
The city preserves amazing examples of Romanic, Gothic, Plateresque and Baroque monuments. Its cloisters, its façades, every single corner have a unique and special charm.
The University life combined with tourism give to the city a friendly and lively atmosphere.
In Salamanca winters are cold and summers are very hot. Spring and autumn are the best periods to visit the city and you may enjoy mild temperatures.
The official language is Spanish (Castilian).
